Mark Herras recently opened up about a difficult chapter in his life, revealing that there was a time when he had to borrow money from fellow actor Alden Richards due to serious financial struggles. The candid confession was shared during his guest appearance on RDR Talks, hosted by Reymond “Boss RDR” delos Reyes, where the Kapuso actor reflected on the challenges he faced after the height of his showbiz career.
During the interview, Mark admitted that he reached a point where, despite owning a house, he no longer had any money left in the bank. Bills and daily expenses continued to pile up, and he acknowledged that poor money management contributed to his situation. According to him, things became even more difficult after the death of his guardian and relatives, who previously helped him handle his finances. Without their guidance, he struggled to adjust and found himself spending without proper planning.
When asked if he ever resorted to borrowing money, Mark answered honestly and confirmed that he did. He openly mentioned Alden Richards as one of the people who extended help during that trying time. Mark shared that Alden did not hesitate to help and showed genuine kindness, describing him as someone with a truly big heart. The assistance he received, he said, helped him survive and get through one of the lowest points of his life.
Mark also addressed the backlash he received online after videos of him dancing at a bar circulated, with some netizens assuming it was a sign that his career had declined. He clarified that his actions were never about maintaining an image, but about fulfilling his role as a provider. For him, any honest work is acceptable as long as it allows him to support his wife and children.
The actor explained that becoming a father significantly changed his outlook on life. Responsibility took on a deeper meaning, and he realized he could no longer afford to wait indefinitely for acting opportunities. This realization pushed him to explore other income sources, including venturing into business.
Today, Mark is actively involved in a meat business, which he now prioritizes over showbiz. He shared that while he once dreamed of long-term success in television, his focus has shifted to stability and security for his family. Looking back, Mark expressed gratitude for the lessons he learned about humility, perseverance, and the importance of asking for help, lessons made possible in part by the support of people like Alden Richards.
