Robin Padilla Denies Promoting Online Gambling Site

Robin Padilla Speaks Out on Fake Online Gambling Promotion

ROBIN PADILLA – The senator strongly denied claims that he was promoting an online gambling site.

In a Facebook post on Friday, January 2, he shared a screenshot of a social media post that used his image without permission. He called the post a “big scam” and warned people not to fall for this trick, saying it is a serious crime.

Padilla explained that he has always supported laws against online gambling, pointing out its harmful effects on society. He expressed concern about the growing gambling addiction among Filipinos and stressed his commitment to protecting the public from scams.

This comes after lawmakers in July 2025 filed bills in the House of Representatives to regulate online gambling websites because of the increasing addiction. Senators, including Migz Zubiri, also asked celebrities not to promote online gambling, even if it is profitable, to prevent more people from getting addicted.

Meanwhile, Robin Padilla, famously known as the “Bad Boy” of Philippine cinema, made a notable shift from showbiz to politics. After decades of playing action and anti-hero roles in films and TV, he used his popularity to run for the Senate in 2022. Winning a record number of votes, he became the first Muslim senator since 1995. In his political career, Padilla has focused on fighting crime, promoting federalism, protecting Muslim and cultural community rights, and improving social welfare programs, demonstrating a clear transition from his celebrity image to a serious public servant shaping laws and national policies.
