Kuhol of “Mongolian Barbecue” Fame Dies
KUHOL — The Filipino comedian, whose real name was Doughlas Arthur Supnet, passed away at the age of 66 due to high-risk pneumonia and complications related to hypothyroidism. He died on Monday, December 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter fondly remembered by many Filipinos.
The sad news was confirmed by his sister, Carol Supnet, through a Facebook post in which she also shared details of his wake. In her message, she expressed deep love and gratitude for her brother, saying the family would miss him dearly and remembering him as someone who brought joy to many people. Kuhol’s remains were laid at the Ascension of Our Lord Parish in Quezon City, where viewing was held from December 23 to 26.
Kuhol was best known for his sidekick roles in movies and television during the 1990s and early 2000s. His screen name came from his thick lips and cheerful, expressive smile, which made him easily recognizable and well loved by audiences. He had a natural charm that allowed him to stand out even in supporting roles, often adding humor and warmth to every scene he appeared in.

He first gained wide attention in the 1980s through the television show Mongolian Barbecue, where he played the sidekick of Mr. Shooli, a character popularized by the late Jun Urbano. This role helped establish his place in Philippine comedy and opened doors to numerous film projects.

Among the movies he appeared in were Juan Tamad at Mr. Shooli: Mongolian Barbecue (1991), Juan & Ted: Wanted (2000), Matalino Man ang Matsing Naiisahan Din (2000), Daddy O, Baby O (2000), and Walang Iwanan… Peksman! (2002). Through these projects, Kuhol became a familiar and comforting presence in Filipino entertainment.
