Statement of Malacañang on Pres. Marcos over Possible Impeachment Complaint vs. VP Sara Duterte
Malacañang spoke on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. over a possible impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Several impeachment complaints were previously filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. One of them reached the Senate and countless Filipinos called for an impeachment trial to start when it reached the chamber. However, before a trial was held, the Supreme Court released a decision on the issue raised challenging the constitutionality of the complaint.

The Supreme Court declared the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte as unconstitutional. According to the high court, the complaint did not abide by the one year rule ban. Following the decision of the SC, the Senate archived the impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

Nineteen senators voted in favor of archiving the impeachment complaint against the Vice President. Four (4) senators opposed the motion:

Amid the impeachment issue against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Malacañang has repeatedly stressed then that Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly has no role over the matter. The President himself also denied his alleged involvement in the issue.
Based on the ruling of the SC, a fresh impeachment complaint against the Vice President may only be filed after February 5. However, ahead of the start of a new year, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) chairperson Teddy Casiño confirmed that they might file a new impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
“Isang pinaghahandaan ’yung pagtatapos ng one-year ban sa February. Most likely magfa-file po tayo ng impeachment ulit. Kasi bitin ’yung nangyari, hindi natuloy sa trial,” Casiño said.

Recently, Malacañang was asked about the side of Pres. Bongbong Marcos over the possible filing of a fresh impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a post of News5 on social media, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that it is still not an issue on the President.
“Sa ngayon hindi pa isyu sa Pangulo ang impeachment laban kay VP Sara,” the Malacañang official said.

Atty. Claire Castro reiterated the previous remarks of Pres. Bongbong Marcos when asked about the possible refiling of an impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on the post, the Malacañang stressed Marcos Jr.’s remarks that those who committed mistakes must be held accountable under the law.
“Pero sinabi niya noon pa, kung dapat managot, dapat panagutin. Wala dapat sini-sino,” Castro said.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reacted to the possible filing of a fresh impeachment complaint against her.
