Ambush Incident Involving Kim Chiu Resurfaces Amid Her Legal Battle
KIM CHIU – The ambush incident involving the Kapamilya actress has resurfaced amid her legal battle against her sister, Lakambini Chiu.
On March 4, 2020, Kim Chiu’s van was shot at by unidentified gunmen while traveling along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City. At least eight bullets hit the vehicle. Kim was asleep and woke up to the sound of gunfire, then immediately ducked when she saw her driver panicking.

Fortunately, no one inside the van was injured. Although shaken, she still went to her taping that day. The full impact of the incident only sank in when she later saw the bullet holes in the van. Authorities investigated the case, including the possibility of mistaken identity, but the real motive was never clearly confirmed.

Earlier, she filed a complaint for qualified theft against her older sister, Lakambini Chiu, after discovering financial problems and irregularities in a business they shared. Kim had entrusted her sister with managing the business and had invested a large amount of money, only to find out that it was failing and that most of her investment was gone. With the support of her lawyers and relatives, she formally filed the case in Quezon City. For many, this betrayal by someone she deeply trusted was even more painful than the life-threatening ambush she experienced in the past.

Meanwhile, Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu is an actress, singer, TV host, and entrepreneur. She rose to fame after winning Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition in 2006. Dubbed the “Multimedia Idol,” she is known for hit shows and movies such as Sana Maulit Muli, Bride for Rent, and Love Thy Woman. Beyond acting, she is also one of the hosts of It’s Showtime.
