A thief inside a public jeepney was caught after the owner’s phone rang, revealing where it was hidden.
Recently, Linds TV, a Facebook user, shared a video of the thief being caught in the act after the owner’s phone rang. The post quickly went viral on social media and received reactions from the internet users.
The content creator explained that the incident happened around 11:49 PM near SM Southmall. Traffic was heavy, and the group had just boarded a jeepney heading toward Casimiro.
While settling into their seats, one of them noticed that someone had reached his pocket. He felt something was off, but he couldn’t immediately confirm who did it.
Inside the jeepney was a man wearing a blue shirt who kept pointing at a group of kids riding with them. He insisted that the children were the ones who took the phone.
The group calmly talked to the kids and asked permission to check their pockets, but no phone was found. The kids looked confused and scared, and it became clear they had nothing to do with the missing device.
The phone’s owner then noticed something important: his EarPods and smartwatch were still connected. That meant the phone had to be very close. With this clue, they turned their attention to the man in blue.
The snatcher tried to brush off the suspicion and said it was wrong to accuse people. To confirm, they used the Find My Device feature through the smartwatch. Within seconds, a loud ringing was heard from the exact spot where the man was sitting.
The group recorded the incident, showing that he was literally sitting on the stolen phone. Since everyone had boarded at the same place, it was clear that he was the only one who could have placed it there.
