President of Akbayan Speaks on Upcoming 2nd Part of “Trillion Peso March”
Akbayan President Rafaela David spoke on the upcoming rally against corruption called as the “Trillion Peso March” on November 30.
The alleged multi-billion corruption in the projects funded by the government sparked the anger and disappointment of countless Filipinos. Last September 21, thousands of people joined the so-called “Trillion Peso Marchs”, a rally against corruption in the country.

Several showbiz celebrities joined the said “Trillion Peso March” and some of them like Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda even led the call to the government for accountability. The action protest was held after several senators, congressmen, and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption. Contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya were the first ones to do name-dropping during a Senate flood control hearing.

The Discayas tagged then-House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Pasig Congressman Roman Romulo, Quezon City Cong. Arjo Atayde, Marikina Cong. Marcy Teodoro, and Zaldy Co as among the government officials who allegedly receive kickback from the flood control projects. Amid the accusation, presidential cousin and Leyte Cong. Martin Romualdez resigned from being the House speaker.
Romualdez claimed that he wants the Independent Commission for Infrastructure to be able to implement its mandate without undue influence. The ICI was created upon the order of Marcos Jr. for the investigation of the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption.

Last September 21, there were different calls — a call for an end to corruption, a call for accountability, and a call for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign among others. Recently, Akbayan spoke on the upcoming second part of the rally against corruption which is set on Sunday, November 30.
Based on a post of News5 on social media, Akbayan Pres. Rafaela David clarified that the “Trillion Peso March” rally on November 30 is not taking the call for Marcos Jr. to resign as its first agenda but they are also not neglecting the possibility that the President is allegedly involved in the massive corruption issue in the country.

Zaldy Co recently tagged Marcos Jr. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the budget insertion mess and accused them of allegedly receiving a P56-billion kickback. Based on the post, Akbayan also clarified that they will not allow Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to allegedly benefit from the call on the government for accountability.
“Kailangan naman din talagang magpaliwanag at panagutin si Marcos doon sa kalakihan ng korupsyon sa ilalim ng kanyang administrasyon. Gayundin, hindi naman tayo papayag na ma-hijack ni Sara Duterte ‘yung panawagan natin sa panangutan,” the Akbayan President said.
Based on the post, speaking to One News, Akbayan Pres. Rafaela David stressed that they will go where the evidence leads. She emphasized that the rallyists are united.
“Kami po sa Akbayan, kasama na rin ‘yung mga miyembro at iba’t ibang kabahagi ng ‘A Trillion Peso March’ [ay] united po kami sa panawagan na we will go where the evidence leads,” David expressed.
Amid the ongoing flood control investigation, Pres. Bongbong Marcos issued a warning to those who will help the accused in the flood control issue hide from the authorities.
