Former E.S. Lucas Bersamin Asked about the Calls for Marcos Jr.’s Resignation for VP Sara Duterte To Take Over
Lucas Bersamin, the former Executive Secretary, claimed that the Philippines is allegedly safe with President Bongbong Marcos than Vice Pres. Sara Duterte as the chief.
After Zaldy Co dragged Bersamin and then-Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman’s names in his corruption accusations versus Marcos Jr. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Malacañang announced that Pangandaman and Bersamin resigned from their positions. According to Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, their resignations were allegedly out of delicadeza.
Zaldy Co claimed that Marcos Jr. and Romualdez allegedly ordered a P100-billion budget insertion in the 2025 national fund. According to the then-Ako Bicol Partylist Representative, he confirmed the order with Pangandaman and Bersamin who allegedly did confirm it. He claimed that all the kickbacks from the supposed P100 billion budget inserted allegedly went to Marcos Jr. and Romualdez.
However, recently, former Executive Sec. Lucas Bersamin claimed that he has not tendered a resignation letter when the Palace announced his resignation. According to him, he only received a call last November 17 from someone not in Malacañang telling him that he needs to leave his position and in the afternoon, the Palace made the announcement.
Despite the claim of Bersamin, he remains impressed with the suppose focus that Marcos Jr. has for his work as the country’s president. Speaking to One PH, he even claimed that Marcos Jr. is allegedly the most qualified among those who ran for the presidency.
Lucas Bersamin claimed that his belief that Pres. Bongbong Marcos was supposedly the most qualified for the presidency was allegedly proven when they worked. Based on a post of News5 on social media, he claimed that Marcos Jr. is really focused in his work and he feels lucky to be working with him as the boss.
“Si Presidente, napakagaling na tao niyan. Focused na focused ‘yan. I think of all the people who vied for the presidency, he was the most qualified. It turned out to be true when I observed him working… Focus na focus siya,” he said.
Based on the post, Lucas Bersamin was asked about his side on the calls for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign so Vice Pres. Sara Duterte can take over. The calls came amid the corruption allegations by Zaldy Co against PBBM and the illegal drug use accusations by his sister, Senator Imee Marcos.
“I’m not disparaging the Vice President, ang kakayahan niya but I think it’s safer for the Philippines to stay with President Marcos,” Bersamin said.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also spoke following the corruption allegations of Zaldy Co against Marcos Jr. and Romualdez.
