Ex-Boyfriend of Gina Lima Found Dead at Home
IVAN CEZAR RONQUILLO — The former boyfriend of the late actress-model Gina Lima was found lifeless inside their family home on Wednesday.
According to the La Loma Police Station, Ivan was rushed to the hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him, but he was later pronounced dead. Police reports indicate that Ivan may have attempted to take his own life.
Authorities confirmed that Ivan was found in the same residence where Gina was earlier discovered unresponsive. This detail has drawn public attention because Ivan was the one who brought Gina to the Quezon City General Hospital just days earlier, where she was declared dead on arrival. Investigators from the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) are now handling both cases.
According to police, initial findings show that Gina and Ivan were together before her death. On November 15, the two reportedly had drinks at Gina’s condominium. The following day, November 16, they went to Ivan’s home. They reportedly slept around noon, but when Ivan woke up at about 8 p.m., he found Gina unresponsive. He immediately called his father, and together they rushed her to the hospital. Her initial medical report listed cardio-respiratory distress as the cause of death.
Speculation spread online claiming that Gina had been physically abused before she died, allegedly by Ivan. However, early police findings do not support this allegation. Investigators found no signs of struggle in the room and no marks on Gina’s neck or face that would indicate strangulation. Aside from a few small bruises on her legs, no significant injuries were noted. Scratches found on Ivan’s face were explained as coming from Gina’s friends, who confronted him at the hospital upon learning about her condition.
Police are also examining another possible angle after discovering tablets and suspected kush at the scene. Toxicology results are pending.
