Old Carabao Sold for Slaughter After 32 Years of Service to Its Owner

Old Carabao Touches Many Hearts After Being Sold for Slaughter After 32 Years of Service

A carabao in Oriental Mindoro that served its owner its entire life is now being sold for meat because its body has grown weak.

Recently, the Facebook page Bataan Animal Welfare shared the story of the carabao, which worked for its owner for 32 years but is now being sold to be butchered. The post quickly went viral and gained reactions online.

After serving its owner for 32 long years, the animal from Oriental Mindoro.is now set to be sold for slaughter because its body has grown weak from age and decades of hard labor.

Carabao

For more than three decades, the carabao worked under the heat of the sun and the hardship of farm life. It plowed the fields every planting season, carried loads that helped sustain the family, and became a silent partner in their livelihood.

Day after day, through rain or shine, it did its job without complaint. People online pointed out that if the carabao were a person, it would already be considered a senior citizen, someone who should be cared for, protected, and allowed to rest.

But because it is an animal, some believe it is normal to sell it once it is no longer strong enough to work.

Animal advocates say this mindset is unfair. They emphasize that the carabao is a living being that gave its strength and loyalty for decades. To send it to slaughter after all those years feels wrong and heartbreaking to many.

Many hope that instead of being sold for meat, the carabao will be given the chance to live the rest of its life in peace, finally receiving the rest it has long earned.
