Albie Casiño Slams Slater Young’s Silence on Cebu Floods
ALBIE CASIÑO — The actor called out engineer and former Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited Big Winner Slater Young for remaining silent amid accusations that his real estate project, Monterrazas de Cebu, worsened the flooding in Cebu during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino.
In an Instagram story posted on November 7, Albie directly challenged Slater to respond to the issue, sharing a report from ABS-CBN News that featured Slater’s previous statements about his project. He pointed out that many people had already warned about possible environmental damage years ago, saying those comments were now proving to be true. Albie further remarked that Slater seemed unusually quiet, questioning whether he was genuinely open to public feedback as he had previously claimed.

During the height of the typhoon’s impact, Slater became the target of intense online criticism. Many residents blamed Monterrazas de Cebu, a high-end development situated on a mountainside, for allegedly contributing to the massive flooding that devastated parts of Cebu. Social media users accused the project of disrupting natural water flow and worsening the effects of the storm.

Slater had earlier showcased the project in his vlog in August 2023, proudly describing it as an exclusive development. Responding to previous concerns, he explained that Monterrazas de Cebu occupies only a small portion at the foot of a mountain and consists of just 146 housing units. While acknowledging that the project is large, he clarified that it does not cover the entire mountain. He also pointed out that, based on Google Earth images, there was no visible forest in the area even before construction began, implying that the project did not cause deforestation.

Despite the growing backlash and repeated calls for a statement, Slater has yet to issue a new response following the flooding incident. Media outlets reportedly attempted to reach him for comment but have not received any reply.
