Blackpink Allegedly Invited to Malacañang Christmas Party

Blackpink at Malacañang? Barzaga’s Post Stirs Debate

BLACKPINK – One of the world’s most famous K-pop groups became the center of online buzz in the Philippines after a Facebook post by Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga. On November 5, 2025, Barzaga mentioned the group while reacting to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive for government offices to hold simple Christmas parties.

In his post, Barzaga claimed that while local offices were told to celebrate modestly, the President was allegedly inviting Blackpink to Malacañang Palace for a Christmas party. He ended his post by saying that there was no more hope for the country.

The post quickly went viral, with thousands of netizens sharing mixed reactions. Some expressed disbelief, asking if Blackpink would really visit the Palace, while others joked that there was no need to buy concert tickets if they could simply be invited to Malacañang. Others teased that the group might be spending Christmas with the President.

The rumor spread just as Blackpink confirmed their return to the Philippines for their DEADLINE World Tour on November 22 and 23, 2025, at the Philippine Arena. This fueled speculation that they might extend their stay or make a special visit to the Palace.

Blackpink, composed of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, is one of the most successful girl groups in the world. Since debuting in 2016 under YG Entertainment, they have released global hits such as Ddu-Du Ddu-Du, Kill This Love, and How You Like That. They have broken multiple records on YouTube and Billboard, headlined Coachella in 2023, and were named Time Magazine’s Entertainer of the Year in 2022.

As of now, there is no official confirmation that Blackpink was invited to Malacañang. Many believe Barzaga’s post was not meant to be taken literally but was instead a sarcastic comment criticizing the government. He seemed to use the group’s popularity to point out what he saw as hypocrisy — telling others to hold simple parties while the Palace allegedly planned something extravagant.
