Vocalist of Jeremiah Band, Piwee Polintan, Dies
PIWEE POLINTAN – The vocalist of the band Jeremiah has passed away, leaving the OPM community and fans in deep mourning.
The band announced his death through an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday, October 28, expressing their profound sadness over the loss of their beloved vocalist. They described Piwee as an exceptional artist whose voice and passion deeply touched the hearts of many. Beyond his talent, he was remembered as a dear friend, a loving soul, and a brother to his bandmates. The group said his legacy would continue to live on through the songs and memories he shared with the world.
The band also extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered prayers, support, and love during Piwee’s illness, asking the public to continue keeping his family and loved ones in their thoughts and prayers. They ended their message with a wish for his soul to rest in eternal peace.

A few days before his passing, on October 23, the band revealed that Piwee had suffered a stroke. They asked fans for prayers and privacy as he received medical care and close monitoring. Unfortunately, despite everyone’s hopes for recovery, Piwee did not survive.
Piwee was one of the founding members of Jeremiah, a band that rose to fame in 1998 with timeless hits such as “Nanghihinayang,” “Bakit Ka Iiyak?,” “Kahit Anong Mangyari,” and “Basta’t Ikaw.” Their success earned them the award for Best Performance by a New Group at the 12th Awit Awards, cementing their place in OPM history.

In a 2014 interview with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Piwee shared his battle with Stage 4 tonsil cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2007. After undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, he was declared cancer-free in 2011 and joyfully returned to performing—something he truly loved.
