PGH Seeks Help to Find Relatives of 77-Year-Old Patient Without Relatives Assisting Him
PGH is calling for help to find the relatives of a 77-year-old patient with no family or relatives assisting him.
The Medical Social Service of the University of the Philippines Manila–Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) is seeking help from the public to locate the relatives or acquaintances of a 77-year-old patient, Ignacio Barsaba Gahilan, who is currently admitted at the hospital’s Emergency Room in Taft Avenue, Manila.
According to PGH, Gahilan hails from Ormoc, Leyte, and had been living in Luneta for the past 13 years, where he earned a living by selling goods. He reportedly moved to Manila after the devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda, which claimed the lives of his wife and two children.
The elderly man decided to stay in Manila permanently believing that he no longer had any surviving relatives in their hometown.
Hospital staff shared that Gahilan has been under their care but has no family or relatives to look after him. The PGH Medical Social Service hopes that through their public appeal, someone who knows him or his family can come forward and help reconnect him with loved ones.
The hospital emphasized that they are doing their best to provide care and support for Gahilan while he remains in the emergency ward. However, reconnecting him with family or friends would greatly help in ensuring he receives proper assistance and emotional comfort during his recovery.

“Ang Philippine General Hospital -Medical Social Service ay nanawagan sa mga nakakakilala o kamag-anak ng pasyente na si IGNACIO BARSABA GAHILAN, 77 na taong gulang, mula Ormoc, Leyte. Siya ay may 13 taon nang nagtitinda at nainirahan sa Luneta matapos masalanta ng Bagyong Yolanda ang kanilang komunidad na naging sanhi din ng pagkamatay ng kanyang asawa at dalawang anak. Hindi na bumalik sa kanilang probinsya ang pasyente sa paniniwalang wala na syang kamag-anak na natira sa lugar.
