Sen. Bong Go. Holds Press Conference over Flood Control Issue
BONG GO – The Senator broke his silence on the speculation of Ombudsman Boying Remulla that links him to the Discayas.
Several senators and congressmen were linked to the flood control issue in the Philippines and it angered countless Filipinos. The supposed multi-billion scam led thousands of Filipinos to conduct street protests last September 21. Several celebrities joined the rally that called for an end to corruption.

Following the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure, House Speaker Bojie Dy announced that the flood control probe is best left in the hands of the ICI. The Senate continued with its flood control probe but it has yet to conduct a hearing since Senator Ping Lacson resigned from being the chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee which leads the investigation.

Recently, controversial contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya withdrew their cooperation with the ICI. According to ICI executive director Keith Hosaka, the Discayas withdrew their cooperation with the ICI amid a supposed lack of recommendation for state witness. He claimed that the contractors expected that cooperating in the investigation can help them get a recommendation.
Following the withdrawal of the Discayas, Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the Discayas are allegedly protecting Sen. Bong Go. The name of Go was dragged into the flood control mess due to the joint venture of the Discayas with the CLTG Builders, a construction firm owned by the Senator’s father.

Recently, Sen. Bong Go broke his silence on the speculation of Ombudsman Boying Remulla that links him to the Discayas. Based on a post of News5 on social media, the Senator stressed that he is not hiding anything and he welcomes any investigation. According to him, he will not waste the trust that the Filipino people have given him.
“I welcome any investigation. Let the facts speak for themselves. Wala po akong tinatago. Wala po akong kinakatakutan dahil wala akong kasalanan. Hindi ako sangkot sa anumang anomalya. Ang aking tungkulin ay maglingkod sa bayan at hinding-hindi ko po sasayangin ang tiwalang binigay ng taumbayan,” he said.
Sen. Bong Go also said that he is one with the Filipino people in the crusade against corruption. He called on the Filipinos to not stop and not allow the truth to be twisted.
“‘Pag nailihis po ang katotohanan, magulo po ‘yan. Magkakagulo po. Tumbukin niyo po ‘yung dapat tumbukin. Hanapin niyo po ang dapat hanapin, ‘yung talagang mga totoong buwaya. ‘Yung mastermind talaga,” the Senator said.

Sen. Bong Go denied knowing the Discayas. Based on the post, he also claimed that he is willing to be a complainant of a case even if the person on the other end is his family. He also said that he does not care if charges will be filed against the Discayas if they have committed a mistake. According to him, what he wants is accountability.
“Kung may pagkukulang, pagkakamali, kung anomalous o substandard, panagutin niyo… Willing po akong magkaso, kasuhan natin ‘yung mga dapat kasuhan, kahit kamag-anak ko. I’m willing to be the complainant kung talagang mayroon silang pagkukulang,” the Senator expressed.
Amid the flood control issue in the country, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said she is confident that the flood control probe will not lead to her but she doubts the confidence of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She also raised her belief that the investigation is possibly trying to involve her and former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte through Sen. Bong Go.
