Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Endorsed Cong. Martin Romualdez for House Speaker
SARA DUTERTE – A video clip showing the Vice President endorsing former House Speaker Martin Romualdez resurfaced on social media.
The politial turmoil in the Philippine government now is no secret to the Filipino people. The public witnessed the souring relationship between Vice Pres. Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos since she stepped down from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte apologized to the Filipinos several times for endorsing Pres. Bongbong Marcos in 2022 when they were running mates for the elections. His sister, Senator Imee Marcos apologized in return to the Vice President claiming it was her who convinced Duterte to run with her brother. The Senator sided with the Duterte family amid the political turmoil in the government.
However, recently, a video clip showing Vice Pres. Sara Duterte endorsing former House Speaker Martin Romualdez resurfaced on social media. It is no secret to the public that Duterte has also thrown tirades and accusations against the former House Speaker prior to the flood control issue in the country.
Duterte previously claimed that Romualdez and resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co are allegedly the ones who are controlling the national budget. Both Romualdez and Co are accused of flood control corruption amid the supposed multi-billion corruption issue in the country.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the office of Pres. Bongbong Marcos can’t even detain former House Speaker Martin Romualdez at the House of Representatives. The presidential cousin and Leyte Congressman stepped down from the House speakership amid the corruption allegations against him.

The House of Representatives filed an impeachment complaint against the Vice President when Romualdez was still the House speaker. Recently, following his appointment to his new position, Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that he will open and study the complaints filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
