K Brosas Calls Out Corruption in DPWH Projects
K BROSAS — The singer-comedienne expressed her deep anger over the widespread corruption linked to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control projects. She urged the government to hold accountable all officials and contractors involved in the billion-peso kickback scandal, saying that those responsible must face the consequences.
In an interview with Bandera after the press event for TV5’s Sing-Galing Sing-Lebrity Edition, Brosas couldn’t hold back her emotions when asked about the issue. She said she was furious because ordinary Filipinos continue to struggle every day, while some officials and contractors live comfortably using public funds. She added that Filipinos tend to be too forgiving and easily forget such issues, even when billions of pesos are at stake. She criticized how some people could spend billions in just one day, while hardworking citizens can barely make ends meet.
Brosas also compared the lives of showbiz and media workers—who pay the right taxes and work hard daily—with those who gain wealth through corruption. She said it is unfair that honest workers continue to struggle, while corrupt individuals live in luxury and even flaunt it publicly. She emphasized that those who are guilty should be punished and that the stolen money must be returned to the people.

Aside from expressing her frustration, Brosas supported the idea of giving a tax holiday—a break from paying taxes for one or two months—as a form of relief for honest taxpayers. She encouraged Filipinos not to lose hope in the fight against corruption and to continue watching and demanding justice.

Despite her anger, K Brosas remains active as one of the hosts of Sing-Galing: Sing-Lebrity Edition on TV5, alongside Randy Santiago and Donita Nose, with Rey Valera, Nina, and Ariel Rivera serving as judges. The new season, which began airing on September 27, features 48 celebrity contestants from different fields. Brosas shared how grateful and blessed she feels to still be part of the show, saying she enjoys her work and loves bringing joy and music to people’s lives.
