Sarah Geronimo Speaks Out Against Corruption During UAAP Opening

Sarah Geronimo Slams Corruption in the Country

SARAH GERONIMO – The Popstar Royalty broke her silence on the widespread corruption in the country, encouraging the youth to take action and be part of the change. Known for staying away from political issues, Sarah’s bold statement surprised many and showed how deeply concerned she is about the nation’s current state.

During her special appearance at the UAAP Season 88 opening ceremony held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on Friday, September 19, 2025, Sarah shared her thoughts in front of thousands of students. Although she did not graduate from UST, she is a proud Thomasian, having attended high school there. The event featured her performances of hit songs, such as “Ikot-Ikot” and “Tala,” which energized the crowd.

Aside from performing, Sarah took the opportunity to directly address the audience, particularly the youth, about the issues facing the country.

“Masaya po akong makasama kayo ngayong gabi,” she began warmly. She then turned serious, expressing her frustration over the dishonesty and corruption happening in the government. “Di naman po lingid sa kaalaman natin na napakaraming nangyayaring kaguluhan, kasinungalingan, panloloko ang ginagawa sa ating bansa,” she said.

Sarah emphasized the crucial role of the younger generation in shaping the country’s future and urged everyone to remain hopeful and believe that meaningful change is achievable.

She added that people should continue to hold on to hope and trust that one day the country will rise. She expressed her belief that there will come a time when Filipinos will no longer need to leave the country to find better opportunities because everything they need will be available locally. She also encouraged everyone to keep praying for the Philippines.

Before performing the chorus of Tala, Sarah made a striking remark, comparing the current political system to being deceived. “Parang panloloko lang sa bansa natin. Pinaikot-ikot lang tayo. Tama na!” she declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Sarah’s heartfelt speech came at a time when two major protest rallies against corruption were set to take place on Sunday, September 21, at EDSA and Luneta, signaling a growing public demand for change.
