Slater Young Clarifies: No Government Projects
SLATER YOUNG — The former Pinoy Big Brother winner, who has been in the construction business for years, has spoken up after being linked by some netizens to the ongoing controversy over questionable flood control projects.
The issue began when a social media user commented on one of Young’s posts, asking if he had also benefited from taxpayers’ money. The remark implied that he might be involved in the same controversy surrounding contractors accused of corruption.
Young immediately set the record straight through his Instagram Stories. Sharing a screenshot of the comment, he wrote: “I do not have any government projects.” He emphasized that despite running a construction business for two decades, none of his ventures have ever been tied to government contracts.

In another post, Young took a light but pointed jab at the criticism. He stressed that even after 20 years in the industry, he still does not own any luxury cars—unlike some contractors at the center of the scandal. He jokingly added that the umbrella in his vehicle was only a freebie from a bank, saying: “Don’t me.”

Netizens took this as a subtle reference to Sarah Discaya, the contractor whose companies were flagged in connection with alleged ghost flood control projects. Discaya drew attention during a Senate inquiry when she revealed her collection of luxury vehicles, which included Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, and other high-end brands. She even admitted to buying one of her cars simply because it came with a built-in umbrella.

Meanwhile, Slater Young is an entrepreneur, engineer, and former actor best known as the first male Big Winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited (2012). A licensed civil engineer, he later left showbiz to focus on business and founded LiteBlock, a company that produces lightweight concrete. Married to blogger Kryz Uy since 2019, he is now a father of three.
