Josh Mojica Denies Claiming to Be a Billionaire

Josh Mojica Explains Viral ‘Billionaire’ Post

JOSH MOJICA – The businessman and social media personality explained that he never claimed to be a billionaire after a viral social media post suggested otherwise and drew widespread criticism. The 21-year-old entrepreneur, who rose to fame during the pandemic with his successful “kangkong chips” business, clarified the controversy in a video statement on August 23.

The issue started when an unofficial Facebook fan page posted the line, “21 years old ‘bilyonaryo na’ ikaw?” Mojica reshared it on his verified account, leading many to believe he was claiming billionaire status. While some followers admired the post, others accused him of arrogance. Among his critics was former Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, who questioned his supposed wealth and even urged the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to review his taxes. She also compared him to Edgar “Injap” Sia II, widely regarded as one of the country’s youngest billionaires.

After receiving backlash, Mojica quietly deleted the post and replaced it with another that highlighted humility, captioned, “A Day in the Life of an Ultra-Humble 21 Years Old CEO.”

This was not Mojica’s first time dealing with online controversy. In July, he was criticized after uploading a video of himself driving a Porsche along EDSA while vlogging. Concerned netizens reported the incident to the Land Transportation Office (LTO), which later suspended his driver’s license for 90 days despite his apology.

In his latest statement, Mojica clarified that he simply reshared content from a fan page and had no intention of misleading the public. He admitted that becoming a billionaire is his dream and expressed pride that young people found inspiration in it. He emphasized that the post was never meant to be boastful. Mojica also reassured the public that his business operations remain legal, transparent, and compliant. He stressed that he has always managed his company with discipline and is focused on long-term growth.

For now, the BIR has not responded to Guanzon’s call for an investigation.
