“Bakit ngayon lang?” Cristy Fermin Questions Liza Soberano’s Revelations
While many sympathized with actress Liza Soberano after she opened up about the dark struggles of her childhood in the United States, not everyone was convinced—including veteran columnist Cristy Fermin.
In her showbiz vlog Showbiz Now Na with co-hosts Romel Chika and Wendell Alvarez, Cristy openly expressed doubt about Liza’s revelations. She admitted that if everything Liza said were true, then the actress indeed went through painful experiences. However, Cristy raised a lingering question: “Bakit ngayon lang?” She argued that if Liza had shared these stories earlier, the public might have understood her better. Romel agreed, saying that timing could have made a big difference.
Cristy also questioned Liza’s ability to remember events from as early as two years old. “Sa edad na ‘yan, ang alam lang ng bata kumain, matulog, maglaro. Eh si Liza, retentive pala,” she asked. She further noted that while Liza recalled these struggles, she seemed to have forgotten to thank ABS-CBN and her former manager Ogie Diaz—people who helped her achieve success in Philippine showbiz—before leaving for Hollywood.

The veteran columnist also claimed that Liza now appears to be a “different person,” suggesting that the actress may be desperate because her Hollywood career has not turned out as successful as expected.
For context, Liza recently released a YouTube tell-all video titled Can I Come In? where she revealed painful experiences from her childhood. She shared that she grew up separated from her parents, who both struggled with drug use and legal troubles in the U.S. She also disclosed that she endured abuse from her mother’s partner and suffered under certain foster families.

Despite these revelations, Cristy made it clear that she remains unconvinced. “Sorry, pero ako mismo hindi ako naniniwala… Naaawa ako kung totoo ito, pero hindi ako naniniwala.,” she said. Her co-hosts echoed similar doubts, openly questioning how much of Liza’s shocking story can truly be trusted.
