Rowena Guanzon Wants BIR to Check Josh Mojica’s Taxes After He Claims to Be a Billionaire at 21

Rowena Guanzon Questions Josh Mojica’s Billionaire Claim

ROWENA GUANZON – The former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner has publicly called out young entrepreneur and content creator Josh Mojica after he claimed online that he had already reached billionaire status at the age of 21.

In a Facebook post on August 21, 2025, Guanzon shared a screenshot of Mojica’s statement and expressed disbelief over the claim. She even compared him to the founder of Mang Inasal, who became one of the country’s youngest billionaires.

“Akala ko ang youngest billionaire ay may-ari ng Mang Inasal? Bakit nagke-claim itong si kangkong?” she wrote. Guanzon also tagged the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), urging the agency to check Mojica’s taxes.

The post quickly stirred discussion online, with many recalling Mojica’s rise to fame as the founder of Kangkong Chips Original.

Josh Mojica began his business journey in 2021 with only ₱3,000 in capital. Inspired by his aunt’s recipe and encouraged by his grandfather’s advice, he started making kangkong chips at home. He initially sold them to friends and family, but within six months, his sales had grown to more than ₱100,000 per month. By the following year, he had already reached his first million in earnings.

From these humble beginnings, Mojica expanded rapidly. By 2022, he had built a two-story factory, employed around 100 workers, and introduced multiple flavors of kangkong chips to both local and international buyers. His success was largely driven by his creative use of social media, which helped him reach a wider audience.

Aside from business, Mojica also gained attention for his outspoken views. His podcast appearance, in which he questioned the value of formal education compared to real-world experience, sparked nationwide debate.

Recently, Mojica faced controversy when the Land Transportation Office suspended his driver’s license after he was caught using his phone while driving a Porsche. He later admitted his mistake and issued a public apology.
