Maine Mendoza: “Nainlab talaga ako kay Alden”
MAINE MENDOZA – One of the hosts of Eat Bulaga revealed that she truly fell for her former on-screen partner, Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards, during the height of their popular KalyeSerye days. Speaking on the latest episode of the podcast Tamang Panahon on Sunday, August 17, Maine openly admitted that her feelings for Alden were real and that she never tried to hide them.
She explained that she was very vocal about her emotions, not only to the people around her but also directly to Alden himself. She told him honestly that she had feelings for him. However, Maine clarified that despite her openness, Alden never courted her. She stressed that there was never any romantic pursuit between them.
“Nainlab talaga ako kay Alden. Vocal naman ako. Kahit sino naman ‘yong magtanong sa akin, sasagutin ko naman nang diretso. Nainlab ako sa kaniya. Pero hindi siya nanligaw. Walang gano’n,” Maine said. She added, “Alam din niya. Kasi ung vocal ako sa lahat ng tao, pati kay Alden mismo. Alam ni Alden ‘yon. Sinabi ko naman sa kaniya rekta.”
Maine went on to say that if Alden had chosen to court her at that time, she would have said yes without hesitation, because her feelings were genuine. She confessed that she was truly in love with him during those years.
Interestingly, Alden also admitted in a separate interview in October 2023 with Boy Abunda that he, too, developed feelings for Maine. When asked if he ever fell for her, Alden sincerely said yes. He explained that it would be hypocritical to deny it, and admitted that he even confessed his feelings, though he chose not to share the details.
Despite the mutual admiration and emotions they both experienced in the past, life has since moved on. Maine is now happily married to award-winning actor and Quezon City 1st District Representative Arjo Atayde.
