Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on “Problems” in PH
SARA DUTERTE – At an event in Kuwait, the Vice President lamented the alleged struggle in asking for government assistance in the Philippines.
Vice Pres. Duterte has indeed flown to Kuwait as confirmed by the OVP (Office of the Vice President). Meanwhile, Duterte’s office clarified that the Vice President’s trip to Kuwait is authorized and part of her mandate.

Duterte’s office stressed that it is part of the Vice President’s mandate “to represent and advocate for the welfare of the Filipinos” including those who are in other countries. The OVP stressed that the Vice President is allegedly not using public funds in her travels.

The claim of the Vice President’s office came after Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously said she frequently travels abroad because of the “frustrated” Filipino communities. According to her, the Filipino communities abroad are allegedly left in frustration over what is happening in the Philippines now.
Several Filipinos noticed the frequent overseas trips of the Vice President. After the May 2025 Midterm Elections, she has been to four (4) countries in less than a month.

Duterte went to Doha, Qatar where she met with some Duterte supporters there and then flew to The Hague, Netherlands for her scheduled visits to her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The former Chief Executive is currently faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity over his administration’s war on drugs before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

After it, the Vice President attended a Philippine Independence Day celebration in Malaysia together with senators Robin Padilla and Imee Marcos. She also went to Australia to attend the Free Duterte Now rally organized by their family’s supporters.
In Kuwait, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte joined the Hakbang ng Maisug event. Based on a report on PhilStar, the Vice President gave a speech at the said event and cited some of the problems in the Philippines. According to her, the economy of the country has to be addresssed.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that many Filipinos are leaving the country to work abroad not because they want to but because they cannot find adequate jobs in the Philippines. According to her, one of the nurses she has talked to said that if the entry level for nurses will be increased to Php 35,000, she will not leave her family.
Based on the report, aside from the economy in the Philippines, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also cited the “difficult process” in asking for government assistance in the country. According to her, the applicant needs to secure several requirements first from different offices before he/she can avail the aid from the government.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also compared the education in the Philippines with the education abroad.
