Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Conversation w/ Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte about 2028 Polls
RODRIGO DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte claimed that her father assured her of his support if she decides to run in the 2028 Elections.
There were several instances before that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte teased her supporters about a possible presidential bid in the next election. Countless die-hard supporters of the Duterte family also call on the Vice President to take the presidential race most especially after what happened to former Pres. Duterte.
The elder Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities last March 11 and his custody was transferred to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. The said controversial turn of events triggered the souring relationship between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is “not a weak leader” — contrary to the previous tirade of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte against his successor. According to her, Marcos Jr. is allegedly pretending to be kind and wants to show the people that he is not like his father, the late former dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.
The younger Duterte also expressed her belief that the ICC and the Marcos administration allegedly used each other in the arrest and the transfer of custody of the former President. According to the Vice President, the foreign court allegedly wants to pursue the case against her father while the Marcos admin supposedly wants to keep him away from the country.
Amid the soured ties between her and the President, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has apologized to the Filipino people several times for running along and endorsing then presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos. Recently, she claimed that she and her father has talked about her possible bid in the 2028 polls.
Based on a report on Inquirer, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is ready to support her and even campaign for her if she decides to run in the 2028 Elections. However, the Vice President did not specify which elective post she wants to run for.
“He said he hopes that he’s no longer detained by the time of the campaign because he really wants to campaign. But that of I tell him I’m running, he’ll be the first to help, ‘You tell me you’re running… I’ll be the first to help,'” the Vice President said referring to her conversation with her father.
Previously, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte expressed his belief that his arrest could lead to the presidency of his daughter right away or in the future. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also believes that she is allegedly the frontrunner of the 2028 presidential race, thus, the Marcos admin supposedly wants to take her out.
