Mocha Uson Appointed by Mayor Isko Moreno as News Presenter
ISKO MORENO – The Manila City mayor has officially appointed television and social media personality Mocha Uson as a news presenter for the city government. The announcement was made via a Facebook post by Moreno on Friday, July 11.
According to the post, Mocha will now join the mayor in his weekly public briefing segment, “Yorme’s Hour,” held every Friday. The program aims to deliver news and updates on various government activities and initiatives in the City of Manila.
Mayor Moreno explained that Mocha’s role is part of the city’s communication efforts under the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO). This move aligns with Executive Order No. 7, which promotes open governance and transparency in public service.
Mocha Uson is no stranger to public service or politics. She previously served as Assistant Secretary at the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte. She also ran for councilor in Manila’s District 3 under Mayor Isko’s ticket, though she was unsuccessful.
In her new role, Mocha is expected to help strengthen the city’s public communication efforts and make government updates more accessible to the citizens of Manila.
Meanwhile, Mocha Uson, whose real name is Esther Margaux Justiniano Uson, is a media personality, blogger, and former government official. She rose to fame as the lead singer of the Mocha Girls, known for their provocative performances. She later became a political blogger supporting then-President Rodrigo Duterte and gained millions of followers on Facebook, though she has often been criticized for spreading misinformation.
During Duterte’s administration, Uson held several government positions, including Assistant Secretary of the PCOO and Deputy Executive Director of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Her appointments drew criticism over her qualifications and controversial conduct, including offensive statements and the spread of false information.
