JM Ibarra Defends Fyang Smith
JM IBARRA – A former Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 housemate and known as the on-screen partner of Big Winner Fyang Smith, recently issued a warning on social media about the spread of fake news and edited videos.
In a Facebook post dated July 7, JM reminded the public: “Ingat tayong lahat sa fake news at spliced videos na galing sa mga clout chasing pages. Choose to be kind tayo palagi.”
Although his post appeared general, many fans believe it was a response to the ongoing controversy involving Fyang Smith. A video of Fyang making bold statements about their PBB batch went viral and drew a wave of criticism from netizens.
In the clip, Fyang confidently said, “Alam mo, kahit ilang batch pa ’yan, walang makakatalo sa batch namin. Hello? Gen 11? Breaking… Highest… Hello? Hindi! Joke lang! Kaya walang makakatalo sa batch namin kasi lahat kami very genuine, very authentic. Akala nga namin walang nanonood, kaya lahat kami gano’n mga ugali namin.”
However, the video was allegedly edited or “spliced,” which led to her statements being taken out of context. The backlash included a response from Kapuso comedienne and host Pokwang. A screenshot of her alleged comment advised Fyang to remain humble, pointing out that in her 21 years in showbiz, only a few PBB housemates have remained active, and arrogance can damage a career.
As of now, Fyang Smith and her team have not released a statement on the issue.
Meanwhile, Fyang is also making headlines after an incident involving fellow housemate Dingdong Bahan. In a video that surfaced on Sunday, July 6, Dingdong was speaking onstage when Fyang interrupted him and, to the shock of many, wiped saliva on his face. The act was widely criticized online, with many netizens calling it gross and disrespectful, noting that it was not appropriate for the occasion.
Some called her behavior unprofessional and immature. Others expressed disappointment, saying that Fyang was once admired for her authenticity and charm but is now gaining attention for the wrong reasons.
