Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Wants Father’s House in Davao Opened for People

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reportedly opposes the selling of the house of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, and Honeylet Avanceña in Davao.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and Honeylet Avanceña’s house in Davao’s on sale as previously confirmed by the former Chief Executive’s long-time partner. According to Honeylet, they have abandoned the residential property since his arrest.

Former Pres. Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities last March 11 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. He just arrived from Hong Kong when the authorities reportedly acted on its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) over an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.

On the same day that he was arrested by the Philippine authorities, former Pres. Duterte was flown to The Hague, Netherlands for the transfer of his custody to the ICC. He is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over his administration’s war on drugs.

According to Honeylet Avanceña, the are currently four (4) household help at their house located at Doña Luisa Village Phase 1 but “with no master”. She also claimed in an interview with dzRH that the lawyers advised the installation of the CCTV even inside the bedroom for security concerns. Thus, she no longer sleeps at their house.

However, recently, the “House & Lot for Sale” sign previously placed at the gate of Duterte’s house was removed. It is unclear if the residential property has been bought but, based on a report on PhilStar, Davao Vice Mayor-elect Baste Duterte had the sign removed.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is reportedly against the selling of the Davao house of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and Honeylet Avanceña. Based on the report, the Vice President recognized that the residential property belongs to her father and his long-time partner and she has no stakes on the property but she wishes that it will be opened to the public.

“For people to see where the former president lived, where he slept or ate,” Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said.

Honeylet did not disclose the asking price in the selling of her and former Pres. Duterte’s house. Previously, Duterte supporters gathered outside the property and the residents in the subdivision have reportedly complained of the noise and trashes left.

Currently, the former President’s camp is seeking his ICC interim release. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her father can be called “super senior” citizen.
