Kim Kardashian West on Tuesday (US time) planned to freeze her Instagram and Facebook accounts on Wednesday.

This, as she’s joining other celebrities in a campaign encouraging Facebook Inc. to contain the spread of propaganda and hate.

As she’s expressing support for the “Stop Hate for Profit” campaign against Facebook Inc., Kim said in her Instagram post that misinformation that was being shared on social media has a “serious impact” on the elections and undermined their democracy.

Kerry Washington, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Jennifer Lawrence also tweeted on Tuesday (US time), calling on the world’s biggest social media company to do more.

This week, organizers urged users to post about the harm the world’s biggest social media company was causing and “freeze” their use of Instagram for 24 hours on Wednesday.

In a report on Reuters, the embrace of that call by Kim threatened a “fresh blow” to Facebook’s image and careful management of its relationships with celebrities.

With this, Facebook didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
