Pres. Bongbong Marcos Claims Having No Role on VP Sara Duterte Impeachment Process
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President spoke on the stand of Pres. Bongbong Marcos with regards to the impeachment moves against her.
When talks about the possible filing of impeachment raps against the Vice President crossed the surface, Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed that he is not favor of it. According to her, the Vice President is not a huge problem and an impeachment will only tie up the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Duterte was impeached by the House of Representatives last February 5. More than two-thirds of the members of the lower chamber signed the impeachment rap against the Vice President. The document was transmitted to the Senate but the impeachment court ordered it returned to the House — which Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero clarified that is not equal to dismissing nor terminating the case.
Amid the impeachment process, Malacañang claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will not intervene in the impeachment process. He stressed several times that the impeachment process depends on the legislative branch of the government.
Malacañang also said Pres. Bongbong Marcos is not open to any dialogue about the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The President also claimed that his time is spent on his job and in addressing the problems of the country.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reacted to the claim of Pres. Bongbong Marcos that he will not intervene with the impeachment process. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President claimed that the Chief Executive is allegedly not true to his word.
“He gives conflicting statements, truly. The very first day of this administration. In fact, he has not followed through with any of his campaign promises,” she said.
Vice Pres. Duterte also claimed that the remarks of Marcos Jr. is allegedly not surprising anymore. She also believes that the President is just fooling the people around. He even called the President allegedly “the hallmark of a scammer”.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was also asked to comment on Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ claim that he is busy in improving the plight of the Filipino people. She expressed her hope to allegedly see some truth in his remarks.
“Well, good for him. And we hope to see some sort of truth to his statements that he is focusing on helping our fellow Filipinos and doing something for the country. Unfortunately, if you talk to the ordinary citizens and the Filipino community, we don’t see anything at all,” the Vice President said.
Several business groups call on the Senate impeachment court to immediately start the trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Previously, Malacañang expressed its belief that the Senate should pay attention to the business groups over Duterte’s impeachment process.
