JM Ibarra Receives Death Threat Over Love Team Issue, Star Magic Reacts

Star Magic Defends JM Ibarra Amid Death Threat

JM IBARRA – The actor is currently facing serious concerns for his safety after receiving a death threat allegedly made by a fan of fellow Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11 alumni, Fyang Smith and Jarren Garcia.

The threat surfaced on a Facebook fan page named JMFYANG ANGELS, where a disturbing post claimed that a hitman had been hired to harm JM. The message suggested that if Fyang could not end up with Jarren, she should not be with JM either, and ominously stated that JM’s upcoming show in June would be his last.

The post alarmed not only JM’s supporters but also his management. Star Magic, the talent agency under ABS-CBN that manages JM, quickly issued an official statement on Instagram. The agency strongly condemned the threat and all forms of personal attacks against their artists. They emphasized that such actions are taken seriously and that legal steps will be taken if necessary.

Fans and netizens expressed shock and dismay in the comments section, highlighting how extreme some fan behavior has become. Some recalled previous incidents where JM had been targeted at public events, including being harassed during a mall show. Many called for respect and protection for JM, who is known for being kind and professional. Others stressed that personal preferences in love teams should never justify threats or violence.

The controversy arose after Fyang Smith, in a March interview, openly expressed her preference to be paired with JM rather than Jarren. She clarified that while she and Jarren are close friends, she feels more comfortable working with JM. According to her, she enjoys their chemistry and forgets they’re even working because of how much fun they have together.

Fyang and JM’s love team began gaining popularity after their time on PBB Gen 11. Their first on-screen appearance was in the music video for “Wherever You Are” by Regine Velasquez. Recently, they were also cast as voice actors for the Filipino-dubbed version of the Korean film Picnic.
