Triplets Graduate Summa Cum Laude with the Same Degree

Triplets Shine in School and Career

TRIPLE THE SUCCESS – Triplets Maile, Ke’ale, and Makana Young, all 22 years old, graduated summa cum laude from San Diego State University. Each earned a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing and Communications with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies. Despite walking a shared academic path, each sister described the journey as uniquely personal.

Makana shared how meaningful it was for them to walk the stage together, while their joint statement to People emphasized that growing up and studying side by side made them each other’s strongest support system. Their bond included healthy competition—constantly motivating one another to do better. Achievements by one inspired the others, turning personal milestones into shared victories.

“One of the greatest advantages we’ve had is always having a built-in study buddy: someone to challenge us, hold us accountable, and encourage us to be our best selves, both in and out of the classroom,” they said.

The only time the sisters were apart was during their first semester of college, when they studied abroad—Maile in London, Ke’ale in Florence, and Makana in Rome. They described the experience as their first real taste of independence, where they had to make decisions and face challenges on their own. “In that way, our individual successes have always been shared victories, reminders that we’re stronger because we’ve grown together!” they added.

After that brief time apart, the triplets reunited to finish their studies and graduate together. Their journey didn’t end there. They all accepted jobs as social media specialists at Power Digital Marketing, a digital marketing agency based in Oakland, California—their hometown. Their new roles involve creating advertising content for social media platforms like TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. Their story stands as an inspiring example of sibling unity, hard work, and shared success—both in school and now in their professional lives.
