Father of Duchess Meghan Markle Seen Living in Cebu
THOMAS MARKLE SR. – The father of Meghan Markle, was recently spotted living in Cebu, Philippines, with his son, Thomas Markle Jr. According to a report from The Mirror dated May 11, 2025, the father and son are renting an apartment in Cebu for over P37,000 per month.
Thomas Markle Sr., a former Hollywood lighting director, is currently recovering from major health issues he experienced in recent years, including two heart attacks and a stroke. His son, Thomas Jr., has been assisting him, and the two now live together in Cebu. However, the elder Markle’s health appears to be affected by the area’s challenging climate. He has been seen using a walking stick and struggling with Cebu’s hot, humid weather.
A source shared, “There are only two types of weather in Cebu: hot and humid, and hot and humid and raining. It’s brutal even for men half his age, but it’s still sad to see him looking as though he’s struggling.” The Markles recently moved into their apartment and, although still adjusting to life in Cebu, they remain committed to supporting each other.

For context, Meghan’s relationship with her father has been strained since he reportedly sold paparazzi photos of her. This incident led to Thomas Sr. not attending Meghan’s wedding at Windsor Castle. Their estrangement further deepened when Meghan and her family moved to California and stepped away from royal life.

Meghan Markle is an American actress and a member of the British royal family by marriage. She gained fame for her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits, which she starred in from 2011 to 2018. In May 2018, Meghan married Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, the younger son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana. Upon their marriage, she became known as the Duchess of Sussex. The couple has two children: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

In 2020, Meghan and Harry stepped back from their senior royal duties, citing intense media scrutiny and a desire for financial and personal independence. Since then, they have moved to California, launched a nonprofit organization called Archewell, and signed media deals with companies like Netflix and Spotify to produce original content.
