Luke Espiritu: “Si Imee Marcos, walang pakinabang sa masa”

Luke Espiritu Questions Imee Marcos’ Contributions to the People

LUKE ESPIRITU – The labor leader and senatorial candidate strongly criticized incumbent Senator Imee Marcos, claiming that she has not contributed anything meaningful to help ordinary Filipinos. In a Facebook post on Saturday, May 10, Espiritu shared the link to his joint interview with Marcos on “The 2025 Senatorial Interviews with Luke Espiritu and Imee Marcos,” hosted by Boy Abunda.

Espiritu expressed surprise that he and Marcos were paired for the segment, speculating that it may have been done to highlight their stark differences. He emphasized that he represents the working class and presents clear, direct solutions to the country’s problems—unlike Marcos, whom he described as an “empty” and ineffective senator who has held office for years but delivered little to no benefit to the masses.

“Siguro para makita ang kinaibahan ng isang Senador na para sa manggagawa, yung may laman, yung may prinsipyo, yung may nilalatag na direkta-sa-puntong solusyon sa bawat ibabatong tanong, dun sa isang Senador ng Kadiliman na matagal na sa pwesto pero walang laman, walang nagawa, at wala namang solusyon sa problema ng masa,” Espiritu said.

He also outlined some of his accomplishments, despite not yet holding an elected position. According to him, he has already helped hundreds of workers secure regular employment, pushed for wage increases that benefited thousands, opposed environmental destruction in Cavite, and defended victims of human rights violations.

“Si Imee Marcos, walang pakinabang sa masa..,” Espiritu added. He ended his statement by urging the public to reject what he called the “pwersa ng Kasamaan at Kadiliman.” The 2025 Philippine midterm elections are scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025.

Meanwhile, Luke Espiritu is a lawyer, labor leader, and activist. He leads Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino and advocates for workers’ rights, offering free legal aid to the poor. A graduate of Ateneo de Manila, he supports a ₱750 minimum wage, wealth tax, and climate action. He ran for senator in 2022 and is running again in 2025.
