Bongbong Marcos Impeachment Complaint Attempted To Be Filed but Failed

Ronald and Duceille Marie Cardema Tried To File Complaint for Pres. Bongbong Marcos Impeachment from Office

BONGBONG MARCOS IMPEACHMENT – The Cardema couple attempted to file a complaint seeking to impeach the President but failed.

The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has undeniably widened the existing gap between the Dutertes and the Marcoses. Prior to it, Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte already share a souring relationship following her exit from his cabinet and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The Dutertes have also accused the President and his administration of being allegedly behind the impeachment moves against the Vice President. Previously, following her return from The Hague, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte met with her lawyers who are “more than confident” to win the impeachment trial in the Senate.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was impeached by the House of Representatives last February 5. The Vice President is surrounded by issues including the controversial spending of the Confidential Funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) as well as the CFs of the Department of Education when she was still the DepEd Secretary.

Amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government, a complaint seeking the impeachment of Pres. Bongbong Marcos was attempted to be filed at the House of Representatives. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Duterte Youth party-list chairperson Ronald Cardema and his wife, Duceille Marie, went to the lower chamber and tried to file the complaint.

However, the Cardema couple was informed that the House Secretary General was not around to receive the impeachment complaint versus Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Furthermore, based on the report, the Office of the Secretary General is also set to have its strategic planning session from May 6 to May 8.

“The Office of the SecGen is not accepting it, because wala raw ngayong araw na ito ang SecGen… Ang nakalagay naman sa procedures, it is the office, not the person himself,” the Duterte Youth party-list chairperson said.

Based on the report, the Cardema couple intends to be back at the House of Representatives next week to file the impeachment complaint. In the said complaint, the Cardema couple is accusing the President of alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and his alleged betrayal of public trust over the arrest of former Pres. Duterte.

Furthermore, the couple claimed that the right of the former President for due process was allegedly violated. Currently, the former President is detained in The Hague, Netherlands under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC). In his camp’s defense, Duterte’s team cited the “letter” of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
