Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Still in The Hague, Netherlands for Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao City Congressman joked that it is fine if their whole family will be detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention facility saying that “everything is free”.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained at the ICC detention facility in the Hague, Netherlands for more than a month now. His March 11 arrest is controversial and it caused political turmoil in the Philippine government. Undeniably, many people are against Duterte’s arrest and the transfer of his custody to the ICC.
After staying for more than three (3) weeks in The Hague for her father, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that her name is on the ICC list of persons who might be arrested. According to her, there are allegedly lot of names prior to her name on the list. She previously confirmed that she will be back in The Hague for her birthday this May.
Currently, it is Duterte’s eldest son, Davao City First District Congressman Paolo Duterte, who is in The Hague. His daughter, Sab Duterte, has also joined the lawmaker abroad. He usually responds to interviews outside the ICC detention facility after visiting her father.
Recently, Davao City Cong. Paolo Duterte was asked about former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s reaction to speculations that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is allegedly the next Duterte to be detained at the ICC detention facility. Based on a video posted on social media, Duterte’s eldest son, in his response, joked saying that it is fine with him if all of them in the family will be detained. He stressed that only his mother is against it. According to him, everything is free inside the ICC detention facility.
“Okay lang kahit kaming lahat na lang, diyan na lang ang buong pamilya namin. Libre security, libre kain, libre lahat, okay na. Diyan na lang kaming lahat pero ang aking ina ang hindi papayag, ako okay na ako,” Congressman Pulong said.
Cong. Paolo Duterte referred to the ICC detention facility as the “retirement home” of his father, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. He admitted that what happened to their father is painful but they will face it one day at a time.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that Congressman Pulong will return to the Philippines as soon as possible to campaign for their father’s PDP-Laban bets. The Vice President is also fervently campaigning for the #Duter10 as requested by the former President.
