Illegal Detention Charges Filed against CIDG Chief Nicolas Torre III by Businesswoman
CIDG CHIEF – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Major Nicolas Torre III is reportedly faced with an illegal detention case filed at a court in Makati.
The controversial arrest of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte earned different reactions from the people. Undeniably, not only the Philippine government and Pres. Bongbong Marcos who was accused of betrayal earned criticisms from the turn of events last March 11.

CIDG chief Nicolas Torre III also earned the bashing of countless Filipinos most especially the supporters of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He was one of the lead implementers of the arrest of the former President as well as the transfer of his custody to The Hague, Netherlands.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested by the authorities of the Philippine National Police (PNP) upon his arrival from Hong Kong at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. For several hours on March 11, he was detained at the Villamor Airbase.

Then, there were claims that the former President is illegally detained. His youngest daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, took to social media photos of her father with a caption that he is allegedly under “illegal detention”. Allegedly, there was no warrant of arrest against the former President.
During the Senate investigation on the arrest of the former President, CIDG chief Nicolas Torre III admitted that he denied former Pres. Duterte’s request to see Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The Vice President was not able to talk to her father personally before he was flown to The Hague, Netherlands via Dubai for the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court.
Vice Pres. Duterte immediately flew to The Hague last March 12 to follow her father. She finalized the ICC legal team of the former President before she returned to the Philippines in the first week of April.
Recently, amid Duterte’s arrest remaining a controversy, CIDG chief Nicolas Torre III is allegedly faced with an illegal detention case — but not because of the March 11 turn of events involving the former President. Based on a report on PhilStar, a businesswoman filed charges against Torre for allegedly detaining her for six (6) days based on a “photocopied” red notice from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
Based on the report, the businesswoman was identified as 48-year-old Rotchelle Calle who filed charges against Torre and his men. However, the CIDG Chief and his subordinates did not appear during the preliminary investigation of the case set by the Makati prosecutor’s office on the 21st and 28th of April.
Following the controversial arrest of Duterte, CIDG chief Nicolas Torre was one of those who were promoted to police major general.
