Villar Family’s PrimeWater Faces Probe Ordered by PBBM
PRIMEWATER – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered an investigation into the growing complaints against the water service provider owned by the Villar family, following calls from local officials in Bulacan. These officials have raised concerns over PrimeWater’s reportedly poor service despite its high water rates.
According to Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro, the President is taking the issue seriously and will issue directives for an official inquiry. She emphasized that under the Marcos administration, poor service—especially from private companies handling essential needs like clean water—will not be tolerated.
Castro underscored the importance of holding private service providers accountable, particularly when their operations directly impact public health and well-being. “ Ang pangangailangan ng tao ng malinis at sapat na supply ng tubig ay dapat ibigay at hindi pang-negosyo lamang,” she said, adding that the quality of service must match the cost paid by consumers.

The complaints focus on issues such as inadequate water supply, inconsistent service, and billing problems. Local residents and officials argue that PrimeWater’s performance has fallen short despite the steep rates being charged.
Castro also noted that the issue could have political consequences for Camille Villar, a public official and member of the Villar family. She stated that it is now up to Villar to prove that she is deserving of the public’s trust, particularly amid the criticisms facing their family-owned company.

“With this issue regarding PrimeWater, if there’s a need for them to resolve the issues raised by the consumers, I think we should immediately take immediate action,” Castro said, emphasizing the need for swift and effective responses to public grievances.
This move by the Marcos administration reflects a firm stance on consumer protection and accountability—especially in industries providing essential services. The goal of the investigation is to ensure that Filipinos receive the quality of service they rightfully deserve.
