Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on List of Persons Who ICC Might Arrest for Probe
SARA DUTERTE – The Philippine Vice President claimed her name is included on the list of persons that the International Criminal Court (ICC) might release an arrest warrant.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands. The former President was arrested last March 11 and his custody was transferred to the ICC where he faces an alleged crime against humanity due to his administration’s war on drugs.
Previously, the ICC confirmed that the investigation of the other personalities linked to Duterte’s drug war is ongoing. Duterte’s close ally and Senator Bato dela Rosa has repeatedly claimed his belief that he is one of the people investigated by the foreign court over the drug war.
Dela Rosa was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the war on drugs campaign implementation of the Duterte admin. He previously expressed his desire to visit the former President in The Hague.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who just returned to the Philippines after staying for more than three (3) weeks in The Hague claimed that he name is one of those in the list of persons who might be arrested by the ICC for the investigation. Based on a post on the Facebook page of Nurse Mae Lagaan, the Vice President said she found out about it after she was not allowed to visit FPRRD everyday inside the ICC detention facility and their conversations were allegedly recorded.
“Nalaman ko iyan kasi pagdating ko doon, nagtataka ako bakit sa simula pwede pa ako bumisita araw-araw. Hininto nila, pagkatapos nire-record na ang mga pinag-uusapan namin ni Pangulong Duterte. So, naiintindihan namin na nakikinig sila sa aming usapan,” she said based on the post.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that there are many of them are who on the list of the ICC of people who might be investigated. She stressed that her name is still on the bottom part and there are still many names ahead of hers.
Currently, the Vice President is busy campaigning for the candidates of the PDP-Laban, the political party of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. She also endorses the senatorial bid of Sen. Imee Marcos who leads an investigation on the arrest of her father as well as the senatorial bid of Manny Villar’s daughter, Camille.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also cited the confidence of her lawyers to win the impeachment trial. As for her, she is most confident with the lawyers that are handling the case.
