Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Campaigns for Reelection of Sen. Imee Marcos
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President endorsed the senatorial reelection of Senator Imee Marcos bearing black as her campaign color.
Countless Filipinos were left confused over the real status of the relationship between President Bongbong Marcos and Sen. Imee Marcos following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. After the March 11 unexpected turn of events, the Senator skipped the campaign rallies of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by her brother.
Eventually, Sen. Imee Marcos left the Alyansa. Her decision came after the first Senate hearing she led on the arrest of former Pres. Duterte when she expressed her belief that there seems to be no due process in the turn of events last March 11. Amid his sister skipping the Alyansa grand rallies following Duterte’s arrest, Pres. Bongbong Marcos made no mention of Sen. Imee Marcos at the Alyansa campaign event in Cavite.
Sen. Imee Marcos leads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in investigating the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The former Chief Executive is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for around a month now.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude to Sen. Imee Marcos for opening a Senate probe on her father’s arrest. It is no secret to the public that the two (2) politicians who are both daughters of former Philippine presidents are friends, thus, many Filipinos expected that the Senator may be torn between her friend and her brother amid the political turmoil.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is now back in the Philippines after staying for around three (3) weeks in The Hague to set the ICC legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. VP Sara previously said that she is willing to attend Sen. Imee’s probe on FPRRD’s arrest.
Recently, countless people were surprised when Sen. Imee Marcos took to her social media account a video of her campaign material wherein she can be seen together with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte as they wear black. The Vice President endorsed the senatorial reelection bid of the Senator.
