Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Hopes Ancestors’ Heroism To Continue Inspiring Filipinos
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President gave a message for the Filipinos as we celebrate the anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan or the Day of Valor.
Today, many of the Filipino people are having a day that is different from their daily routine as it is a regular holiday in the Philippines. The country is celebrating the 83rd anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan or the Day of Valor which commemorates the heroism of thousands of Filipinos who defended Bataan.
Thousands of our ancestors offered their lives to defend Bataan on April 9, 1942 amid the World War II. While today is one of the holidays in April 2025 that were declared by Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the Araw ng Kagitingan celebration is an annual regular holiday for several decades now. The highest officials in the country including Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has released a message for today’s celebration.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that the bravery that our ancestors have shown during the World War II, specifically during the Fall of Bataan, reminds us of the heroism and courage that run in our race. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President expressed her hope that the heroism of our ancestors will continue to inspire every Filipino.
“Ngayong tayo ay nahaharap sa iba’t ibang hamon na sumusubok sa ating pagkakaisa at pagsulong, nawa’y ang kanilang kabayanihan ay magsilbing inspirasyon sa bawat Pilipino,” Duterte said in her statement for Araw ng Kagitingan.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, during the Battle in Bataan, the Filipinos have won the hope and its power that can keep us moving forward despite the challenges. Based on the report, she called on the Filipinos to continue remembering the heroism of our ancestors by building a country that will not suffer in the same experience again.
“Ipagdiwang natin ang kanilang alaala sa pamamagitan ng pagtatag ng isang bansang kailanma’y hindi na muling daranas ng gayong pagdurusa,” the Vice President said.
Aside from Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Pres. Bongbong Marcos has also issued a message for the Filipinos on Araw ng Kagitingan. The Vice President has just returned to the Philippines from an over three-week stay in The Hague, Netherlands for her father.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her willingness to attend the Senate probe on the arrest of her father.
