Student Injured After Jumping Off Tricycle to Avoid Paying Fare

Student Injured After Skipping Tricycle Fare in Pili, Camarines Sur

A student in Pili, Camarines Sur was injured after attempting to flee from a tricycle without paying the fare.

Skipping Tricycle Fare simply means riding a tricycle without paying for the fare. It’s often called “1-2-3” in local slang in the Philippines, where a passenger tries to sneak away or escape before paying the driver.

Though it might seem like a small thing, skipping fare is unfair to drivers who rely on daily earnings. It can also be dangerous, especially if someone tries to run or jump off a moving vehicle just to avoid paying.

Recently, the Facebook page BICOL CONNECT shared photos of the student, showing visible wounds and scratches. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited comments from netizens.

According to a concerned citizen who shared the pictures, the student was seen lying on the road, dazed and bleeding, after jumping out of the moving tricycle. The student reportedly tried to avoid paying the fare by leaping off before reaching the destination.

The fall caused injuries to different parts of the body due to the impact.

Residents of Barangay Sagrada, who were first on the scene, approached the student and asked what had happened. The student admitted to jumping off the tricycle because there was no money to pay for the ride.

On the other hand, the tricycle driver later said he would have understood the situation if the student had just explained instead of running off.

The incident has sparked discussions online, especially among students and commuters. Many people expressed concern about the risks of attempting to avoid fare payments, especially when it involves moving vehicles.
