Vic Sotto Proudly Calls His Son the Future Philippine President
VIC SOTTO – The veteran host and comedian proudly introduced his son, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, as the “next president of the Philippines” during the “Giting ng Pasig” campaign rally on March 28.
Addressing the crowd, Vic expressed his admiration for Pasigueños and playfully credited his son’s qualities to his mother, actress Connie Reyes. He then declared, “Ito na po, ang susunod na presidente ng Pilipinas, Mayor Vico Sotto.”
This statement further fueled public speculation about Mayor Vico’s potential candidacy for the highest office in the country. Many supporters have expressed their desire to see him run for president, including entertainment insider Ogie Diaz, who has already voiced his hopes for Vico’s presidential bid in 2034.

However, under the Philippine Constitution, Vico is not yet eligible to run for president. One of the key qualifications for the presidency is that a candidate must be at least 40 years old. At 35, Mayor Vico still has a few more years before he can legally aspire to the position.
In the Philippines, presidential candidates must meet several requirements. They must be natural-born Filipino citizens, registered voters, able to read and write, and have resided in the country for at least 10 years before the election. The president serves a single six-year term without the possibility of reelection.

While it remains uncertain whether Vico Sotto will pursue a presidential bid in the future, his leadership in Pasig City has already earned him widespread recognition. Many see him as a promising leader who embodies good governance, transparency, and service-oriented leadership. Whether or not he runs for the presidency, his impact on local governance continues to inspire Filipinos nationwide.
As of press time, Mayor Vico Sotto has yet to react to his father’s remark about him.
