Davao Mayor Baste Duterte Issued Strong Statement vs. Pres. Bongbong Marcos
BASTE DUTERTE – The son of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave a strong message against Pres. Bongbong Marcos following the arrest of the former Chief Executive.
A week ago, countless Filipinos were shocked by the unexpected arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte over an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. The ICC has long been investigating the controversial war on drugs of the previous administration.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) authorities assisted the Interpol on the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. Amid the criticisms against him and the government, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said all legal procedures were followed in the arrest of Duterte.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also claimed that the government had a hand on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte because of its commitment to the Interpol. According to him, it is not because of the ICC. He also denied that it is a sort of “political persecution”.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is now in the Hague, Netherlands to face the accusations against him. He was flown to Dubai en route the Netherlands on Monday, several hours after he was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). He just arrived from Hong Kong when he was arrested.
Amid countless Duterte supporters worrying and crying for the situation of the former Chief Executive, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte wants his supporters to just relax saying everything has an end. He also wants his daughter, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, to return home to the Philippines immediately.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte flew to the Netherlands the next day of the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. According to VP Sara, former Pres. Duterte looked well-rested but missed Filipino food. She revealed that she is the only one from their family with a Schengen Visa and everyone is still applying for the travel document.
Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte has filed a petition before the Supreme Court requesting the high court to order the return of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He and his father are running mates in the upcoming May 2025 Elections.
Recently, at the 88th Araw ng Dabaw, Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte gave a message for Pres. Bongbong Marcos following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he told the Chief Executive that he only has the government resources and his term as he is allegedly “nothing”.
The Davao City Mayor also expressed his belief that former Pres. Duterte was arrested because he stood up for what he believed would improve the lives of the Filipino people. Based on the report, before the Davaoenos, Mayor Baste Duterte left a strong remark against Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
“I will take this opportunity to tell Mr. Marcos how I feel about him. Mr. President Marcos, you will never be loved, especially to us who are calling out Rody Duterte’s name. You will never be loved, Mr. Marcos. We will stand up and we will fight back,” Mayor Duterte said.
Aside from the former President, another personality that is believed to be part of the ICC investigation is Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. According to Sen. Bato dela Rosa, he is willing to be with former Pres. Duterte and take care of him in Hague if all legal remedies fail.
