Rowena Guanzon Responds to Allegations After Photo with Jimmy Bondoc
JIMMY BONDOC and ROWENA GUANZON – A photo of the senatorial aspirant and former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner has stirred controversy online.
The image, which Bondoc shared on his Facebook page, “Atty. Jimmy Bondoc for Senator Movement,” showed the two seated at a restaurant where they allegedly met by chance. Guanzon was seen holding a drink, while Bondoc used the opportunity to endorse both himself and Guanzon, stating: “Magkaiba man ang kulay, iisa ang paniniwala: ‘Huling Marcos na yan sa Malacan̈ang!'”
Following the post, netizens quickly reacted, with some questioning Guanzon’s political stance. Critics accused her of not being a true opposition supporter, known as “Kakampink,” due to her unexpected interaction with Bondoc. Others went further, speculating that she was aligned with Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the controversial leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) and a fellow senatorial candidate.

Guanzon, known for her outspoken nature, immediately responded to these allegations. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on March 6, she dismissed the claims and called out the judgmental reactions. “Grabe kayo, Quiboloy fanatic na agad ako because I posted pic with Jimmy Bondoc na na meet y ko sa restaurant and introduced himself ? Mga judgmental Mental kayi ! Hahahaha sige e delete ko na nga,” she wrote.
Addressing the backlash further, Guanzon took to Facebook to push back against what she called “cancel culture,” emphasizing her firm opposition to the current administration. “Tigilan niyo ako sa mga cancel culture niyo di pa kayo nadala nung 2022 saan tayo pinulot, nalimutan niyo ata na ni-dq ko si BBM at katakot takot na banta at kaso ang kinaharap ko at isa ako sa tumutol sa confidential funds ni Sara Duterte at lahat ng ahensya.”

She stressed that merely meeting someone or providing legal services does not determine a person’s political stance. She also pointed out that other opposition figures had previously interacted with political rivals without facing similar scrutiny.
In a final statement, Guanzon issued a strong warning to those attacking her, claiming she knows who is behind the smear campaign. “Alam ko sino nasa likod nito, iexpose ko sila sa susunod na panahon lalo na yung mga nakikinabang sa administrasyong ito pero oposisyon daw sila.”
She concluded with another firm declaration on X: “Tigil niyo pagdikit sa name ko kay Quiboloy, allergic ako.” Despite the backlash, Guanzon remains resolute in defending her political integrity, refusing to be swayed by online criticism.
