Heart Aquino Goes to Comelec
HEART AQUINO – A contestant from It’s Showtime’s “Sexy Babe” segment visited the Commission on Elections (Comelec) today, March 4, 2025, after going viral for admitting she was unfamiliar with the agency and had not registered to vote.
Earlier, Comelec Chairman George Garcia confirmed that the commission invited Aquino to their office to educate her on its role and the importance of voter participation. He emphasized that many young Filipinos may share the same lack of awareness, making voter education a priority. “We fully understand her. Maaring madami pa na katulad niya na kabataan o mga Pilipino. It is our solemn duty to explain who we are and what we are doing,” Garcia said.
Aquino’s response during the Q&A portion of It’s Showtime sparked discussions online, with many expressing concerns about youth political engagement. She later explained that her unfamiliarity with Comelec was due to limited exposure, as her household does not have a television and election-related topics rarely appear in her social media feed.
By welcoming Aquino, Comelec hopes to use this moment to promote voter awareness and encourage more young Filipinos to participate in the electoral process.
