In 2007, a short video featuring two young brothers, Harry and Charlie Davies-Carr, became an internet sensation. Titled “Charlie Bit My Finger,” the 56-second clip showed three-year-old Harry reacting after his one-year-old brother, Charlie, bit his finger. His now-famous reaction, “Charlie bit me,” turned the video into one of the most recognized early viral clips. Their father, Howard, uploaded it to YouTube in May 2007, long before the concept of “going viral” became mainstream. As of 2025, the video has amassed nearly 900 million views, according to the BBC.
Eighteen years later, Charlie, the once-baby in the video, is now a law student in the United Kingdom. While he has no memory of the event, he acknowledges how the viral video shaped his life and his family’s. In a previous interview, Howard revealed that, over the years, the family earned one million pounds (PHP 73.3 million) from the video. In 2021, they sold it as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) for 500,000 pounds (PHP 36 million).
In a recent BBC Newsbeat interview on February 14, 2025, Charlie described himself as someone who prefers a low-profile life. However, despite his efforts to stay under the radar, friends occasionally bring up his viral past. He admitted, “It was never not a part of my life; it’s always been there.” While he tries to keep it quiet, he shared that his friends enjoy telling others that he was the baby in the video.
Meanwhile, there have been no recent updates on Harry. However, in a 2021 CNBC interview, he mentioned that he doesn’t remember much from the event since he was only three years old. When asked how his classmates reacted upon discovering he was part of the viral video, he said it was exciting at first but eventually faded into the background. Still, he finds it cool that their video remains one of YouTube’s biggest hits.
