President Bongbong Marcos’ administration formed the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, consisting of PFP, Lakas-CMD, NPC, Nacionalista, and NUP. The opposition includes PDP and Makabayan, among others. Political shifts include Migz Zubiri resigning as Senate President in May 2024, with Francis Escudero replacing him. The UniTeam Alliance, which helped Marcos win in 2022, has weakened due to tensions with Sara Duterte, who resigned from key government roles.

The election follows an at-large voting system, where each voter selects up to 12 candidates. Incumbent senators like Nancy Binay and Cynthia Villar are seeking other positions, while others, such as Grace Poe, have opted out.
