Canadian Employer Gifts Filipina Nanny a Million-Dollar Home
REBECCA CRUZ – A Filipina nanny was given a million-dollar home by her Canadian employer, Joanna Griffiths, as a sincere act of gratitude.
In an interview with OMNI Television, Rebecca shared the heartfelt story behind this unexpected gift. When she received the house, she modestly told her employer, “Hindi naming kayo mababayaran.” Joanna kindly reassured her, saying, “Don’t worry Rebecca, this is for you.”
For six years, Rebecca—lovingly called “Becca” by the children—has been an important part of the family. She cared for the children, putting them to sleep, feeding them, changing their diapers, and ensuring their well-being. Aside from looking after the kids, she also handled household tasks when they were asleep, helping lighten the responsibilities of her employers.
During her employer’s pregnancy, Rebecca accompanied her to work every day, bringing the baby along. “Araw-araw niya po kaming kasamang pumunta sa opisina niya,” she recalled. Joanna’s trust in her was clear, not just at home but also at school, where teachers noticed how closely the children were attached to her. Whenever they got hurt, they would immediately say, “I want my Becca.” She stayed with them until they fell asleep each night.
Joanna Griffiths, a successful businesswoman, recognized Rebecca’s important role in both her family and career. At the time, she was balancing the challenges of raising young children while expanding her business. She credited Rebecca’s constant support as a major reason for her success.
When Joanna’s company was sold for hundreds of millions of dollars, she wanted to show her deep appreciation in a special way—by giving Rebecca a home. This generous act not only reflected their employer-employee relationship but also the real bond they had developed over the years. Rebecca’s story is proof that hard work, trust, and kindness are always valued, showing that dedication and loyalty do not go unnoticed.
