Family of Gloria Romero Condemns Fake Last Will and Testament
GLORIA ROMERO – The family of the late veteran actress has denied the circulating social media posts about her supposed last will and testament, calling them false and baseless.
Gloria Romero was a legendary Filipino actress and one of the most celebrated icons in Philippine cinema. She became known as the Queen of Philippine Cinema and had a career spanning over seven decades. She starred in numerous classic films and television dramas, earning multiple acting awards for her performances.
Romero was known for her grace, versatility, and ability to portray a wide range of roles, from leading lady to motherly figures. She was a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, respected by both colleagues and fans.
She passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Amid her passing, an alleged last will and testament of the actress went viral online. However, her grieving family clarified that no legitimate document exists and urged the public not to believe misleading information.
The fabricated claims falsely stated that Gloria had large bank deposits, a mansion, a planned school project in Pangasinan, undisclosed charitable donations, and inheritance allocations for her daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, and grandson, Chris Gutierrez. The family firmly stated that none of these claims were true.
They condemned the spread of false reports, especially during Gloria’s wake, calling it disrespectful and distressing. To put an end to the misinformation, they are now considering legal action against those responsible.
In an interview with TV5 entertainment reporter MJ Marfori, Maritess Gutierrez asked for privacy and space to grieve. The interview took place at Arlington Memorial Chapels & Crematory in Quezon City on January 29, 2025, during Gloria’s cremation rites.
Maritess is expected to take legal action soon to address the issue formally. Meanwhile, the Facebook page Pinoy History, one of the first to publish the fake will, has yet to issue a statement.
